I forgot to think about my blog this morning. I slept late and scurried off to work without a thought about my poor blog. My mind is on the list for the cabin, and all the hundreds of things that we take to make our life there cushy. We take extra pillows because the pillows at the cabin feel like they are stuffed with sawdust. We take a fan, and a radio and some cds. The grocery list for the cabin includes things for wonderful breakfasts, including real bacon, something we don't allow ourselves back home. Bathing suits, shorts and sunblock are high on the list, right below mosquito repellent. The car will be stuffed, and it always seems the same no matter how much I try to cut back.
Yesterday we had the big fishing pole hunt. We couldn't find our fishing gear anywhere. Finally, George got the ladder and found them in the rafters of the garage, safely wrapped and tucked away. We went through our fishing tackle box and started to get really excited. There is something about messing about with line, bait, sinkers and nets that makes you realize how important real vacations are. Up there we don't worry about 'nuttin except whether we have a bite or not.
I'm excited today because the 10 day forecast for Pittsburg, New Hampshire is calling for real sunny days--not change of thundershowers as reported last week. Real sunny days are a rarity up there and a real treat. I'm hoping for some days of boating and fishing and exploring the river that runs into the lake. That is where we saw the bald eagle one year. Our plan is to take our cameras, binoculars and journals and do a good job of bird and wildlife watching this year.
Have a great day.
