Vermont

On the way home from New Hampshire, we took a detour through Vermont to Waterbury, home of Ben and Jerrys. We passed through the green mountains and stopped in Cabot, VT to see the Cabot Creamery which is a farmers cooperative that makes wonderful cheese. We snacked on a few different kinds like chapolte and cracked pepper, and I bought three kinds of cheddar.

Vermont is beautiful, but the day was hot and humid, so we didn't get as many pictures as we would have liked. We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast called the Cowbarn Inn, where the host and hostess could not have been nicer, the room was lovely and air conditioned, and we had a great breakfast of sausages, scrambled eggs with roasted peppers and waffles: more breakfast than we really needed. From there we drove home that morning, leaving Waterbury at8:30 and arriving at home at noon. It was a quick ride through lovely country and a really nice ending to a wonderful week vacation.

Waterbury is a town of rolling hills and near Stowe, VT, which is ski country. There was only one restaurant in town that everyone went to, called Arvads, so we went there too for dinner and had salads that evening. Vermont is really a nice state, and although there are tourists, it is not overly developed. Wal Marts have only found their way into three places in Vermont, and not without a huge fight. It is very nice not to see strip malls and development encroaching on those lovely green mountains and clear running rivers.

Have a great day.
